Financing Wind Farms

HSBC set up a financial package to enable Fred Olsen Renewables Limited to develop wind farms at Rothes and Paul's Hill in Moray, Scotland. Wind is currently the most economically viable renewable energy source in the UK. The finance package included facilities that were firsts in the UK in the renewable energy sector. The project was the largest UK wind farm finance to date. Rothes Wind Farm was completed in May 2005 and Paul's Hill Wind Farm is due to be completed by the end of 2006. The two wind farms have a combined capacity of 115 megawatts, enough to power 115,000 homes a year.
