Team Up 4 Tomorrow

HSBC Private Bank in Switzerland organised a day filled with volunteering activities for its staff on 4 December 2006. There were six environmental projects and six educational projects in which volunteers could get involved. More than 20% of employees from all business areas and levels participated.

  • Beaver Information Path - In partnership with WWF, HSBC helped construct an information path along a 3 kilometre (1.9 mile) stretch of the Rhein river, consisting of 15 posters that describe how beavers live and what they need to survive;

  • Volunteers creating a bird nesting box Eco-geste - Near WWF's office in Vernier is an educational garden where local school children come to learn about nature, birds, and insects. HSBC volunteers helped to clean out the pond in the garden and to construct insect and bird nesting boxes;
  • Moving for Nature - This event was open to all to run or walk and raise funds for WWF's work protecting the natural habitats in the Alps. More than US$8,200 was raised;
  • IUCN Red List of Threatened Species - HSBC volunteers helped IUCN come up with new marketing plans for communicating the predicament of the numerous species facing extinction;
  • Volunteers gardening The Marshlands of Prés-de-Vilette, near Geneva - HSBC employees helped with gardening and maintenance activities at the Pro Natura Reserve to help protect the existing landscape;
  • Pointe-à-la-Bise Nature Reserve - The volunteers performed general maintenance at the lakeside reserve including clearing nature trails, garden projects, and hedge and outdoor furniture maintenance.
