The La Mesa Eco Park in Manila, the Philippines, is Manila's only remaining watershed. The park includes a 33 hectare (80 acre) recreational park encompassing a dam plus trails for walking and bicycling. The Eco Park aims to promote preservation of endemic flora and fauna by providing a true forest experience to visitors. In order to provide a more structured learning experience around the sustainability of the La Mesa watershed, broadcast company ABS-CBN constructed the Eco-Center within the La Mesa Eco Park to educate the public about the importance of continued environmental sustainability.
The main feature of the Eco-Center is the Eco-Museum, an interactive environmental museum for children. The interior of the Eco-Museum was funded by HSBC. This includes a 1m x 1m (3.3ft x 3.3ft) model of the dam and its filtration system, a touch screen with interactive displays on the local ecosystem and a weather station where kids can participate. At the centre of the museum is a sculpture called 'The Tree' which has four elements, each representing one of the watershed's endemic trees.
