Launched in partnership with the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in October 2006, the Eco-business Innovation for SMEs offers support to small and mid-sized enterprises to become environmentally responsible and, by sharing best practice and consulting, to become more profitable through employing these measures. The programme supports HSBC Korea’s commitment to the environment and to SMEs, providing a value-added service to SMEs by giving them tools to develop sustainable business practices and increase their standing with their customers and the community at large.

Based on the findings of a survey conducted to identify how Korean SMEs perceived sustainable business practices and the areas of their needs, the programme consists of five group workshops and seven on-the-spot consultancies. It runs from October 2006 to May 2007. After they complete the program, the best performer will be chosen and awarded US$10,800 at a ceremony scheduled for June 2007.
