As HSBC has taken steps to become carbon neutral, we recognise the work, decisions and initial costs involved in these measures. In order to support our customers in reducing their environmental impacts, we have already supported two programmes to help them implement environmental initiatives in their homes, and hope to offer many more in the future.
UK
When customers switched their energy supplier to Good Energy – the only company in the UK to offer only 100% renewable electricity – HSBC gave them US$55 off their first bill. This switch to renewable electricity could help a household reduce its CO2 emissions by two tonnes per year.
Malta
All new home loan customers in Malta were offered discounts on energy efficient products for their homes. The discounts were offered in the form of coupons which could be redeemed for eco-friendly products from four participating companies.
