Working together to inspire action on climate change.
Over the next five years, Earthwatch will develop eight climate change research projects at five field centres. It is intended that one of these projects will be located at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute's (STRI) science facility in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, USA. Earthwatch will work in collaboration with STRI to help to boost existing research activities at the centre and provide opportunities for HSBC North America's staff to participate in the research.
STRI and Earthwatch are currently exploring which research activities can benefit most from volunteer employee involvement, in helping to monitor and predict the role of forests in climate change.
