United Arab Emirates – Sharjah Women's College

HSBC in the United Arab Emirates has developed a local connection with Sharjah Women's College, part of the Higher Colleges of Technology. The college was established in 1997 to further serve the educational needs of young women in the Emirates. HSBC has been involved with Sharjah Women's College on two projects so far.

  • Counselling Arabia Conference - The conference is designed to facilitate networking among personal, career and academic counsellors and to share best practice techniques. Around 300 practitioners attended this conference at which HSBC facilitated Charlie Nutt to speak. Charlie has presented at numerous conferences on various topics including student success, institutional effectiveness and adviser development.
  • UK visit - Thirteen business students were chosen by the college to travel to the UK. Connections with the London School of Economics and Greenwich University enabled the students to participate in educational activities and workshops - they were able to compare business and entrepreneurial practices between the UK and their own country, boosting confidence in themselves and their future careers.
