The world's local bankThe Seoul Metropolitan Government’s English Village programme was established in 2004 to improve the international competitiveness of future leaders in Korean society by helping them with their English language skills. HSBC supported the initiative from the beginning and over 100 students have taken part in the six-day programme so far.
Students attend the village where they can learn and practice their English in a life-like situation. There is a model HSBC bank where they can learn banking processes in English and HSBC managers visit the school to give lessons on economics and finance in English. There are also other classes such as cooking where children get language and cultural lessons together.
