UK – On-line mathematics
In the UK, there is a shortage of maths teachers. To combat this shortage, HSBC donated nearly US$1.2 million to Thomas Telford School to create and introduce an on-line mathematics course. The course can be used either with or without teacher guidance and can be accessed by students on home computers.
There are two different levels of the course which are designed to prepare students for GCSEs - national tests that are taken at the age of 16.
